Praying for Peace and Progress

This is Caden Camp from Camp’s Therapuetic Massage.  Michael asked me to write a little something about myself and why I have joined the “Río de Agua Viva” team.  As much as I don’t like writing about myself, I would do anything for my Cousin Michael!  So here we go … I hope you like it!

I have been going down to Honduras with my dad and other family members for almost 13 years.  For most of that time, I have lived in California, and I have used our trips primarily to spend with family.  Last year I moved back to Alabama and get plenty of family time..HA!!  After moving back, I joined the annual AHMEN International Medical Seminar team in August and made so many friends on that team!  I always return wanting to go back, but this year is a little different. 



This year I have been training under the tutelage of both my dad, Dr. Tom Camp, and my cousin, Michael Franklin.  Being a part of the “behind the scenes” planning for this team has been really neat.  I really had no idea how much planning there is in taking a mission team out of the country.  LOL!  Dad and Michael, and our other team leaders in training (Tito, T-Alto, and David Jones), and I constantly make phone calls, check on fundraising, collect team info for airline tickets, and make sure everyone is working on their projects.  It has not only been a great way to stay in touch with the team but a fun way of making sure this ship sails for the long haul!

I also look forward to this team because it is going to be an entirely new experience.  “Río de Agua Viva” is a 100% educational team.  I absolutely loved teaching massage therapy to the ASI-Cusuna Community Agents, and I can’t wait to do the same with those of ASI-Belaire.  I’m also really impressed with the group of teenagers on our team.  They will be leading our VBS component for the kids of the jewelry making laides, and might I say, from what I’ve seen, they will do great!

Most of all, though, I learn something new about myself and about the world every time I go back to Honduras.  I learn that people all around the world are different, and that’s what makes the world so wonderful.  I feel like I am who I am supposed to be when I work in the mission field.
