The Chance of a Lifetime

Have you ever thought about donating to a cause, but you didn't because you weren't sure your hard earned money would be spent wisely?  Do you want to make a difference in the world, but you don't know where to start?  Well, let me tell you a little bit about how you can offer our sisters and brothers in Honduras the chance of a lifetime.

You are invited to join with me in helping transform the circumstances of thousands of Honduran families. AHMEN (Alabama Honduras Medical Educational Network) has partnered with SIFAT (Servants In Faith And Technology) to make mission work in Honduras more meaningful, but we can’t do it without you.

AHMEN and SIFAT are Advanced Special Ministries of the North Alabama Conference of the UnitedMethodist Church involved in helping further sustainable education and discipleship throughout Honduras.  After thirteen years in Honduras, AHMEN has “given fish" to thousands of Honduran families; however, by partnering with SIFAT, AHMEN will not only be able to "teach communities to fish" but also to “make their own fishing poles.”

"For an empowerment approach to development to be successfully implemented, changes are needed in the abilities of individuals and groups to identify and meet their own needs, as households, communities, organizations, institutions, and societies." -Jo Rowlands

We are calling this joint pursuit the AHMEN-SIFAT Initiative. Over the course of three years,
community leaders meet quarterly for health training in one of the three workshop locations around Honduras. Upon graduation from the program, health promoters develop their own projects, while also serving as the “eyes and ears” on the ground, to help mission teams better concentrate their efforts. As a veteran AHMEN missionary and member of the United Methodist Church, I truly believe our relationship with SIFAT is a blessing we cannot wait to equip for success, and in order to continue moving forward, we need your help.

I want to invite your congregation to consider making a monthly or yearly contribution to the AHMEN-SIFAT Initiative. Congregations making yearly pledges over $600 get me as a guest speaker one Sunday when the regular minister is away. With your church as a partner, we can help ensure a brighter future for a country deserving focused, Christ-centered attention. Together, let's stand with the people of Honduras.

"Empowerment does not mean skyscrapers.  It means being able to reach for the top."

For more information on our work in Honduras, please check out the AHMEN and SIFAT websites and
my blog. Also, if you would like, I can gladly schedule to deliver a presentation to your Sunday School class or small group.
