Two Years After Honduras

It has been two years since I have returned to what had become a home for me. I have not gone this long since before I was a teenager.  It feels weird to say the least. I have felt a bit lost this summer. Even after graduating from Vanderbilt University’s Peabody College with my Doctorate of Education in Leadership & Learning in Organizations, the end of my degree path, I am still incomplete without waking each day in the depths of Honduras.

Does it sound weird for a man who bought his first house with his soulmate to long for a lumpy mattress in an old jail cell under thatched roof?  How about trading the steak for beans? Seeing something from justice and impoverishment perspective?  This is what happened when I spent my most formative years watching the most important people in my life bring me along with them on mission teams to the N. Coast of Honduras from 1998-2019.

My hunger to relive memories and make additional attempts to deliver another educational workshop with Agentes Comunitarios de Salud Integral (AHMEN's Community Education program), however, will always pale in comparison to my true goal.  I am ready to make another attempt to build a team to help me create an app that can be used by every single volunteer in Honduras to learn more about where each other work, when, with whom, and with what foci.  I wrote about it and attempted to raise money for this app in the past.  I have made no progress though because I have been relying on others to get started.

NOT ANY MORE!!

I want to come speak to your church, small group, school faculty, club, business, and nonprofit.  We need every single person who has ever gone to Honduras with you or around you to help me build a map of volunteerism in Honduras.  With this map we can see what the external safety net looks like and thereby strengthen it.  Just like I was brought along on an initial project to Honduras in 1998 that would change my life, now I ask you to let me bring you along to change the lives of millions.  Let's partner for the future of missions in Honduras.  For it is together that we are the difference.
