My momma always said "the answer is always 'no' until you ask." These wise words have opened up many a can of worms for me over the years. Here recently, however, they connected the lives of children in Honduras to those in and around Birmingham, Alabama.
Historically, I have always been a little shy about promoting our efforts in Honduras while at work. This year, I just went for it. I reached out to my principals and asked permission to raise supplies for the AHMEN Christmas shoe box ministry. I designed the project so each grade would bring in a different supply and called the project "Holiday Honduras."
The Honduran students received gifts from their peers in Pleasant Grove, Oak Grove, and West Jefferson, Alabama. From art kits to toothbrushes and toy puzzles to hand sanitizer, the kind gestures extended from students in Jefferson County, Alabama to their counterparts in Atlantida are already making a difference in the learning environment.
And thank you to the Jutiapa Youth Network and Pastor Wilinton of La Moquitia for you help with the distribution of the donations.!
Thank you to all involved who share the love in their hearts with people they will never meet. If you would like to ever meet some of the people whose lives you changed with your donation, contact me today! We are planning the 10th anniversary Rio de Agua Viva team now and need your help.
Together, we are the difference!
